Lecture rooms

The lectures will be held in three rooms of the Rutgers Academic Building – East Wing:

• 4225 is the “conference home”. Registration will be held outside this room. Coffee and snacks during breaks will also be served near this room.
• 2225 is the largest room. It is where plenary talks will be held.
• 1180 is a smaller room for parallel sessions or smaller meetings.

Food

Welcome reception: Please join us between 13:00 and 17:00 on June 1 to enjoy light snacks at the conference venue as you check in for CG Week.

Breakfasts and breaks: A continental breakfast and coffee breaks will be provided at the conference each day.

Lunch: Lunch will be on your own. Here is a list of quickish lunch options near the conference venue grouped by location, with an associated map. The area along Easton Ave. has many more dining options than the ones listed. It is about a 10-minute walk from the conference venue, and using Google Maps to get there is a good strategy.

Dinner: Wednesday's conference dinner will be 18:45–21:30 at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary (which is right next to the conference venue). The address is 35 Seminary Pl, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.

Other dinners will be on your own. If you are staying in New Brunswick or want to have dinner in town, New Brunswick has a wide variety of dining options to fit all budgets. Many are within an easy walk of the conference venue and the New Brunswick hotels (Heldrich and Hyatt). Here are a few options to get you started.

Parking

Free parking is available on campus for CG Week attendees*. You will need to register your car before parking.

Once you have registered, you are allowed to park in lots 26, 30, and the College Avenue Parking Deck. Lot 26 (21 Bartlett St) and Lot 30 (130 College Ave) are behind the College Avenue Student Center, and the Deck is located at 622 George Street. They are all about the same distance to the Academic Building.

*Rutgers employees may park only where their permits allow.

Things to do in New Brunswick

The conference dinner was initially planned to be held at the Zimmerli Art Museum on the Rutgers campus. When our group grew too large for its space, we moved the dinner to the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, which is a larger space. The museum is open 11am–6pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Visiting is free, and it is very close. If you have time, you might enjoy a short tour.

Lodging options

The three hotels closest to the conference are:

• The Heldrich Hotel is a full-service hotel in the heart of New Brunswick, with a variety of restaurants within easy walking distance. It is a frequent choice of participants at DIMACS events. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk to the conference venue, which is about 0.7 miles (1.1 kilometers) away. The hotel has parking nearby, at an additional cost.
• The Hyatt Regency Hotel is another upscale lodging option in downtown New Brunswick, with a variety of restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel is a 0.5 mile (0.8 kilometer) walk from the conference venue. It has on-site parking at an additional cost.
• The Rutgers University Inn is a nice lower-priced option that is on the Rutgers campus. The Inn is 1.8 miles (2.9 kilometers) from the conference venue, so perhaps best for those who are either strong walkers or have a car. The Inn is relatively small, so if this is your preferred option, you should book as soon as possible. It has no on-site restaurant and relatively few dining options in the immediate vicinity. That said, there are many dining options in downtown New Brunswick near the conference venue. There is free parking on site at the Rutgers Inn.

Additionally, there are many other hotels that are within 5-6 miles of the conference venue that may offer more affordable options but would require driving to campus, either with a personal vehicle or a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.

Transportation

Nearby major airports include

• Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which is the closest and most convenient
• John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
• LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
• Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
• Trenton–Mercer Airport (TTN)

NJ Transit trains connects the EWR airport to the New Brunswick station, which is a short walk to the conference venue (0.4 mi/0.6 km), and the Heldrich (0.4 mi/0.6 km) and Hyatt (0.2 mi/0.3 km) hotels.
